Awkward Animals with Vrushali & Blossom

Awkward is normal and here to stay! A childhood of watching Walt Disney animations, to graduating with a Commerce degree. Vrushali always thought the world was all inclusive. Talking animals was very real and normal to her. And studying well was just something all kids did!

When she got a rude shock upon entering the corporate world, she went with the flow while awkwardly trying to get her thoughts sorted out.

Blossom came into her family and helped Vrushali go back to believing reality can be all inclusive, if she chose it to be. The reality she chose was; for busy executives who are dog parents, your family dog will show you how to stress less at your corporate job, get productive work done, get the right promotion already!

Her business name is Vrushali and Blossom as a nod to her life and business mentor, Vrushali’s own dog Blossom who helps her ‘Blossom’ into the human that she is becoming.

Awkwardly Intuitive with Fran Gallaher

Fran Gallaher is an Executive Leadership Coach and the founder of Really Flourish, LLC, as well as the creator of Shine: the Program in Intuition for Unconventional Leaders. Fran grew up seeing non-physical beings such as a knight in armor who stood guard outside her bedroom. Placed in a play room with her younger brother for most of the day, and discouraged from asking questions of her mother, she had no one to tell her there was not a knight in armor outside her bedroom, so her connection with intuition and the world of the unseen remained intact. Now, Fran uses her extraordinary access to intuition and the unseen to bring through crucial, life-changing information that allows her clients to shine, get promoted, and increase their income, increase profits, and live the life they imagine. Fran works at the intersection of logic and intuition, psychology and spirituality, and science and the magical. Fran began her coaching career as adjunct faculty for The Program in Intuition, The Kaiser Institute, for eight years and has spoken and presented for a variety of groups and businesses including The Tennessee Hospital Association, Vizient Inc. (formerly VHA), the Mayo Clinic, Banner Health, Innovative Connections Inc. and other leaders in healthcare and finance. Fran lives and works in Parker, Colorado. Awkward Author with Joseph Hulscher

Joseph Hulscher was born and raised in Aberdeen, Washington, and began journaling the legend of this story as early as 2007. KCGB -The Boy From the Porch – My Dying Mom and Kurt Cobain is his first memoir. Joseph is the 2nd of 6 children, sharing the family home with four brothers and a sister. They are a part of this story as the memoir delivers an intimate retelling of interactions the famed grunge rocker, Kurt Cobain, had with our mother and siblings during a mid-1980s turning point in Cobain’s life in Aberdeen, Washington. I was given a front-row seat to understanding Aberdeen and all the characters in this story, meeting Krist Novoselic in 9th grade at Miller Junior High School. As new kids at school that year, we shared the same road. There are many myths and legends concerning Kurt Cobain and his years living in Aberdeen, Washington, and many truths. The author spent his first 25 years living, working, and playing in the streets of life in town and has returned yearly on multiple occasions for 58 years. It was a different world back then. No internet, no cell phones, real conversations with real people. Grays Harbor will forever be recognized as my home away from home. Awkward Listener with Kevin Johnson

Kevin Johnson is the proud founder of 4EVRGRN. His roots run deep in the Pacific Northwest. It was only natural to name his brand after this incredible region, a place that means so much to him.

Their goal is to shine a spotlight on the Pacific Northwest and all its wonders, from its amazing people to its soul-stirring music, mouthwatering food, thrilling wildlife, and awe-inspiring landscapes.

For Kevin, it’s all about giving everyone a voice. Kindness and respect should be extended to each and every person, and it’s crucial for everyone to feel valued and loved. That’s the foundation on which 4EVRGRN stands.

One thing that truly sets them apart is their dedication to inclusivity. They’ve made it a priority to cater to people of all shapes and sizes, leaving no one out. Kevin couldn’t stand seeing “hi-fashion” and “streetwear” labels limiting their sizes to just XL or at the most a 2XL, so he said, “Enough of that!”

They’ve expanded their shirt sizes to include 4XL and even 5XL because everyone deserves to rock something comfortable.

You know what else they value? Offering exceptional value without breaking the bank. Unlike some industry leaders focused solely on profits, their main aim is to make customers happy by providing top-notch products at wallet-friendly prices.

So, join them on this journey as they celebrate the heart and soul of the Pacific Northwest, embracing diversity, spreading kindness, and giving you the best value in town. Let’s make the world a little greener, together, 4EVRGRN.

She is fired up by connections… connections of all types. When she talks about people or projects, she sees connections. Her combination of strengths is what drives her desire to connect the right people to each other and to the right projects. She leads with confidence in her instincts in terms of the best opportunities for individuals to truly shine in their own talents, for themselves and for the greater good. The reason people feel good around her is that she truly SEES them and knows what they need to be successful. She then presents her vision of them with so much confidence and leadership they can’t help but believe her – this makes her good at getting people to do things they otherwise are unlikely to do. 😊

As her story continues to unfold, she looks forward to determining how she can best use her gifts and quirks to serve others.

Awkward Generalist with Robin Bennett

Robin is a proud generalist who thought she was supposed to be an expert. Led  by curiosity, she wandered and wondered, trying on a variety of career  options and industries, hoping to find the right “one.” Her professional journey consists of wearing multiple hats across numerous industries,  usually in sales, marketing, and strategy. Like many generalists, she  struggled to find her “calling.” In a world of specialists, experts,  influencers, and entrepreneurs, she kept sampling from the buffet of  “possibility.” One of GoDaddy’s repeat customers, she’s been known to have more than a dozen domains at a time, each with its own business plan. Finally fed up with trying to figure out her true domain or  “calling,” she decided to just be herself. She went back through numerous journals, career assessments, and personality tests and discovered three main themes: curiosity, enthusiasm, and creativity. She now uses her innate curiosity, broad experience, and enthusiasm to help widget-makers, manufacturers, industrial companies, and B2B sales organizations turn their subject matter expertise into marketing and messages that are creative, fun, and make their audiences feel good.  Instead of trying to be an expert, she’s embraced being a fan, someone who follows what she thinks is cool and exciting, whether it’s a  product, component, winemaker, poet, rock band, or something else that tickles her fancy. As a marketer, she looks at things the way a fan  might look at them, saying to herself, “that’s cool; people should know  about that.” If she thinks your product, service, or brand is interesting, valuable, or awesome, she won’t stop talking about it. She lives by the motto that if you’re deeply interested, you’ll be  interesting.

But the awkwardness, even here at home, is very real!  Good communication is essential. It’s important to understand that not everyone is inside her head with her! People don’t come with a help-manual. Unlike the world of software, there is no “help-desk” support.

Twenty years after it all began, she’s letting life lead her to places unknown. Deb traded the anti-social world of software design for the people-oriented world of real estate. Being a realtor led her to take to the airwaves. For two years, she hosted the real estate program, Lockin’ it In with Deb & Per on KLAY radio. Her new YouTube channel, Deb Did That, is an adventure story driven by her passion to discover, on a deeper level, what it’s like to be another person, to experience another’s life and work, their joys and tears. Deb and her guest experience the unknown (each other) together.

She’s enjoying the ride.

Awkwardly Weird with Shelley Brown

Shelley Brown is a mindfulness educator and speaker best known as the creator of Weird Girl, a series of humorous essays written about real-life experiences.

Born and raised in Chicago, she graduated from DePaul University and served over 25 years in corporate America, practicing the fine art of mergers, acquisitions, downsizings, public-private transitions, acts of  God, performance reviews, KPIs, workplace cultures, and more.

In 2014, Brown faced her greatest challenge when she suffered a serious spinal injury. After a lifetime of fitness that included 25 marathons,  six ultra-marathons, and countless half-marathons, she found herself living with impaired mobility and chronic pain.

The incapacitating injury coupled with shifting circumstances at work took a toll and began to hold Brown captive in a persistent state of anxiety. With marathons and global meetings now in her rearview mirror,  Brown studied the dynamics between psychology and stress and trained her mind to embrace the art of mindfulness to help find balance and restore meaning to her world.

Now living life with gratitude and joy, Brown provides corporate America with customized mindfulness workshops and retreats aimed at effective goal setting, planning, and productivity.

Besides her dog and boyfriend, Brown’s greatest joy is creating art and  inviting people from all walks of life to allow their inner weird and join what she affectionately calls our collective humanness of weirding.

Awkward Insights with Deb Helfrich

Deb Helfrich has been on a lifelong journey to learn how to best use our thinking equipment. After earning a degree in Philosophy from Carnegie Mellon, she worked as a software consultant for two decades making sure that HR systems worked impeccably to ensure employee’s paychecks landed in their bank accounts at the precise moment the money was relied on. Bridging communication canyons between HR and IT was a piece of cake compared to her 2nd career – bridging the hostile suspension detente between western and woo-woo knowledge systems.

As a Wellbeing Philosopher, she is on a mission to surface the hidden presumptions in the ‘western scientific tradition’ that are killing life, because of a foundational lack of context. She wholeheartedly believes the next frontier for humanity is unlocking the potential of consciousness as transduced through the instrument of the human body. We can easily fix our most intractable problems via trust, respect, honoring our physiological needs, placing our species as a mammal in its proper evolutionary logic context, and re-establishing connection and collaboration as the core of sustainable life-generating activities – even making a profit becomes dynamic when we start by caring for life.

Awkwardly Hidden with Lila Smith

With a background in acting, Lila Smith has learned not only how to say things with more flair, but also to help you use your words to “Say Things Better” as you will learn about in this episode.

Ever feel like you’re playing a character? Maybe your words don’t feel like your own. Maybe your whole life feels like someone else wrote it.

Well, we aren’t characters, but we can use human character analysis tools (like YouMap®) to remember who we are or discover ourselves for the first time.

She did.

Then she realized- more than one tool works offstage.

Story visualization motivates us.

Improv teaches collaboration.

Stanislavsky’s System clarifies objectives.

Meisner’s work makes good listeners.

Adler’s “Actioning” names HOW we make others feel.

Forakis’ OTOA organizes our thoughts.

Actually, everything that creates dramatic conflict can be reverse engineered to create connection!

So Lila did that, creating the Say Things Better Method of Intentional Communication.

Today, her highly interactive workshops have earned rave reviews from partners like Merck, Acuity Brands, the Dallas Mavericks, the University of Miami, Zoho, and Fannie Mae.

Awkwardly Local with Tim Marlowe

Tim Marlowe is all about local! Think of this as a way to give the power back to the local community. SMART Advertisement’s plan to stay active and involved with communities in order to help impact the masses has already started. We have created the application, BD Local (Backseat Driver), which will be the platform that allows our local small business owners to thrive during a recession. BD Local will have well over 100,000 downloads one day in your area, now giving our “Mom and Pop” shops awareness, where as only household names like, Best Buy, Starbucks, and Coca Cola, could only afford. The locals will create this app with us by referring their friends, families, and favorite hot spots in the local community. This is giving the locals an edge over living anywhere else in the world because this has never been done before. Having the community see places they referred and rewarded for it, gives us a competitive edge over our competition by allowing the locals to have a voice.  This is where we are disrupting the industry first, here in Tacoma. Join in on our BD Local: Podcast Series for more on local events and businesses.

A little about Scott Lester: Scott is the CEO and Founder of GW Distillery for CBD Oil and Hemp products. They are changing the world by giving hope to people one person at a time. Because of CBD there is an alternative to the pharmaceutical medications being prescribed by doctors. Scott started this company because of his youngest daughter who has scoliosis, she found CBD to manage the pain she endures every day. If CBD could help her then he wanted to help as many people as he could that are like her. Doctors push too many drugs onto people without caring or understanding what these medications are doing to the human body. A fun fact about him also is for five years he raised trained and raced sled dogs in the state of Michigan as well. Came to Michigan for the snow in 2000.

Awkward Grief with Marcelle Allen

Marcelle, is a professional collaborator. She works with authors, artists and achievers as a Social Media trainer. Marcelle helps clients with marketing, advertising and is the creative force behind her consulting agency, Dreamosity. She knows that to succeed online, you can’t be remarkable just once, and you definitely can’t be boring. Marcelle’s journey when developing LAF Tech included her need to find and embrace humor and comedy amidst grief and tragedy. When she found Brian on a Toastmaster stage, he became an immediate source of much-needed laughter and comedic relief. Once they joined in a work-environment partnership, LAF Tech was the inevitable result. Plus, she’s sorta’ bossy and he‘s afraid of her. Famous for leading with quotes like, “Humor heals,” she knows the truth behind those words and chooses to laugh and find the joy in others, versus the alternatives. She’s curious, supportive, encouraging, and a techie by nature. Marcelle believes that every individual could benefit from learning and leveraging ‘yes and’ techniques in their journey.
